Most placements are one day a week, although further days are available with the same employer or an alternate employer if required.
All placements are based with a local employers, who are sourced, checked to ensure they comply with all Health and Safety requirements and also meet all safeguarding requirements. EDS also continually monitor learners throughout this programme with a range of measure including daily phone calls, termly visits and qualification delivery on site with the learner.
Learners will be transported to their initial interview in most cases (Unless alternative arrangements are in place and agreed by all parties) to meet the employer.
All Personal Protective equipment will be provided for the learner throughout the length of the project to ensure the learners safety.
Whilst undertaking the LIFT Project learners will be expected to undertake an engaging and appropriate qualification related to their placement. It is expected that this will be a generic Health and Safety qualification that will be based around the working environment the learner is actively engaged in.
All qualifications are available and can be delivered from entry level up to a level 2 dependant on the learner’s ability and attitude to learning.
Whilst the LIFT Project is available in year 11 it is preferred and expected to be delivered over two full academic years from year 9 onwards.
Extended work experience placements are currently available across an extensive range of occupations and wherever possible a student will be placed in an occupation of their choice.
