Isa Davies

Isa Davies

Hair and Beauty Tutor - Skills Centre Dudley

At the age of fifteen I pursued my vocation by commencing a three year apprenticeship attending Dudley College on a day realise basis. At this stage I knew that one day I would like to teach. I worked in salons, perfecting my trade for the next twenty years, during which time I also married and had two children. Rather than tying me down, I was able to take on part time and mobile work as a hairdresser while still being ‘there’ for the children. However I never let go of my dream to teach. Finally in 1992 my passion and vision became a reality but at this time it was so difficult to obtain employment in further education colleges. However St Thomas’s a local community centre came to the rescue giving me the opportunity to provide a short hairdressing course. The two hours a week course proved highly successful and due to its’ popularity and need developed to the setting up of a hairdressing salon and subsequent delivery of Hairdressing NVQ Level 2 to mature learners. The community centre was not able to stretch my skills and abilities, and after ten years my time came to move on to pastures new and gained employment at City of Wolverhampton College. During my 13 years at the college I was Course tutor for Level 1, 2 and 3. I have taught, assessed and internally verified for all these levels.
